Bakewell, the only town in the Peak District has recently caught onto a new craze. On the footbridge near the Co-op crossing the river Wye is the craze of the Love Locks. The Bakewell Love Locks are somewhat reminiscent of the Pont Des Art in Paris. It is a craze that has now caught on world wide. People traditionally get a pad lock and engrave the names of their loved ones on it, lock it to the bridge and throw the keys into the water so the lock remains there forever.

The Ponts Des Art has so many locks on it, recently the bridge started to collapse so lets hope it doesn’t happen in Bakewell. The ones in Bakewell seem to be recent, but the collection already on the bridge are many.

I decided it would be good to get a shot of these, I decided to use very selective focus to concentrate on just one of the locks and tried to include a lock that wasn’t so specific to someone.

  1. The shot works for me mate, you have made really good use of DoF 🙂

Re the padlocks, I have seen images of the bridge in France. There must be some pretty decent weight involved when you consider the numbers and also the relative weight to size for some of the locks!

I bet its really busy in your neck of the woods. The Indian summer we have had has been a proper bonus if you compare some of the previous grooms. I hope this will bring you both all the love in the world.
