PHOTOGRAPH THE STUNNING ALPORT CASTLES AT SUNSET
WITH AUTHOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDEBOOK, PEAK DISTRICT THROUGH THE LENS
Meet at 09:30
Price: £95 per person (Deposit £40)
New for 2019. Join me on January 27th to visit and photograph one of the most impressive land marks in the Peak District, Alport Castles.
Alport Castles is a stunning location and is one of Britain’s largest landslips, lying only a short throw away from the Snake Pass A57. Despite it’s relative proximity to Ladybower and the cities of Sheffield/Manchester, it remains a wild feeling place that is often quiet and definitely one of the less shot areas in the Peak District.
Join me for a day out photographing the Peak District with the ultimate aim of being on top of the ridge line to photograph the landslip (or castles if you wish!) for sunset. We will meet early on to get to know each other and photograph a waterfall such as Parkin Clough Waterfall or Fair Brook to familiarise ourselves with cameras and settings etc. If we make good time there may be chance to do more photography but if not we will make the hour or so walk up to Alport Castles from Alport Bridge with a few spots on the way which also have great photographic potential.
The difficulty for the day has been marked as moderate but you should expect up to 6 miles of walking over sometimes tricky terrain but with minimal scrambling . Difficulty is always based upon your own perception. If you have any doubts or questions please feel free to email me.
The light at this time of year is good throughout the day and hopefully extends to offering more opportunities.
We will meet at 09:30 to do a meet and greet with the other photographer’s and myself before moving on to our first location.
We will break for lunch around 12:00 and if time allows, look at some of my images on a laptop to discuss basic processing techniques within Adobe Lightroom. The day will conclude around 17:30, this is a hour after sunset allowing us time to walk down.
Throughout the day we will look at techniques such as focusing, use of filters vs exposure blending, composition, working with the light and more.
I am more than happy to discuss other more advanced techniques on 1-2-1 basis as well as to the group, depending on what is beneficial.
The day is tailored around you as much as possible and I strive to give each of you on the course for that day the best day possible. At the end of the day, you will have hopefully learnt new techniques and taken away some imagery you will be proud of. I am a friendly and relaxed tutor and I welcome you to keep in touch with me after the course to ask me any questions you may have looked over on the day.
There will be a maximum group size of 4 meaning there will be plenty of 1-2-1 time. I will be on hand throughout the day for any questions and my focus will be on ensuring you have the best day possible.
