Meet at 07:00
At Curbar Edge
Price: £95 per person (Deposit £40)
Join me on the 15th December for a packed day of photographing the Dark Peak from sunrise to sunset.
The Dark Peak is a fantastic place to be in winter. Gone are the lush greens, the bracken is a mix of oranges and browns and the landscape opens up, often revealing details you couldn’t see in summer.
The days are short enough to easily to sunrise and sunset and the light is generally good throughout the day, weather dependant of course!
There are dramatic gritstone edges to visit, waterfalls, millstones and much more.
We will meet to do a meet and greet with myself and the other photographers at 07:00 in plenty of time for sunrise. It is a super easy walk to our first location, Curbar Edge for the sunrise which we will photograph before moving on. We may be flexible on location dependant on weather and conditions but initially we may look to head to Padley Gorge.
We will break for lunch around 12:00 and if time allows, look at our images on a laptop to discuss basic processing techniques within Adobe Lightroom. During this time of year, the light is good throughout the day and great images will be able to be taken all day. If we are lucky we may even have some spectacular winter conditions such as frost or snow.
If everyone is up for it and the conditions are ripe, we will take the steady but sometimes challenging walk on to Derwent Edge to Whinstone Lee Tor. We will walk from Cutthroat Bridge which makes the ascent quite gentle but is still over a mile to the sunset spot. However, we are rewarded with stunning views over Ladybower. The day will conclude once we arrive back at our cars around 16:45.
Throughout the day we will look at techniques such as focusing, use of filters vs exposure blending, composition, working with the light and more.
I am more than happy to discuss other more advanced techniques on 1-2-1 basis as well as to the group, depending on what is beneficial.
The day is tailored around you as much as possible and I strive to give each of you on the course for that day the best day possible. At the end of the day, you will have hopefully learnt new techniques and taken away some imagery you will be proud of. I am a friendly and relaxed tutor and I welcome you to keep in touch with me after the course to ask me any questions you may have looked over on the day.
There will be a maximum group size of 4 meaning there will be plenty of 1-2-1 time. I will be on hand throughout the day for any questions and my focus will be on ensuring you have the best day possible.
