Join me on a 5-day photography workshop on the beautiful and picturesque Isle of Skye from April 24th to April 28th 2017.
Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity with accommodation included and only 3 places available.
As a fan of Skye myself, you’ll be confident you’re in good hands as I have great prior knowledge of the area. With such a small group size you’ll be sure to get plenty of 1-2-1 tuition, ensuring you learn as much as you possibly can over the week as well as enjoying your time on the beautiful misty isle.
We will be staying in a self-catering cottage near Staffin which we will have to ourselves. There’s free Wi-Fi provided as well as a living room so we can catch up with processing images when we are in the cottage. We are suitably based for sunrise shoots close to the Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing. The main town of Portree is only 20 minutes away.
As we are in a self-catering cottage, this gives us much more flexibility to come and go as we please and also cook meals in the cottage. Meals aren’t provided, however where practical, costs can be split between the group to save money on food.
There are four rooms in the cottage, 2 x twin and 2 x double, so if you would like to come as a couple or even with a friend, I can offer a discount of 50% on the second booking. This is subject to availability as the group size can only reach a maximum of 4.
Throughout the week we will look at basic techniques such as focusing, use of filters vs exposure blending, composition, working with the light and much more. We will also look at more advanced techniques as the week progresses and have plenty of processing sessions where we can showcase our images (if you’re comfortable) to each other.
Below is a rough itinerary to give you an idea of what the trip entails:
Day 1: Meet at the cottage at 14:00 and do a meet and greet and settle in. We will head out for a sunset at Talisker Bay at around 17:00. As the Isle of Skye may be quite a distance for some, you can arrive later than 14:00 if you wish, but please try to arrive with enough time to head out for sunset.
Day 2: Sunrise at the Quirang. Daytime shots at the Fairy Pools before heading off to Neist Point for sunset.
Day 3: Sunrise at Sligachan Bridge looking towards the Cuillin. Visit Loch Cill Chrisod (aka Hairy Loch) before heading to Elgol for a classic sunset.
Day 4: Sunrise on the Old Man of Storr. A tough walk for sunrise, but well worth it for the views. Photograph Kilt Rock waterfall on our return. A sunset around Sligachan.
Day 5: Sunrise from Loch Leathan looking up to the Old Man of Storr. Head back to the hotel to debrief before checking out.
The itinerary is subject to change, usually due to weather and more suitable locations may be scouted in these instances.
