Kinder Mass Trespass Photographic Walk (December 18th 2022)

Join me on the 18th December to take to Derbyshire’s and the Peak District’s highest point, Kinder Scout on this 8 mile photographic walk. This is the perfect workshop for anyone who wants to expand their portfolio to locations less photographed and are willing to stretch their legs to get there.

In 1932 at least 100 ramblers took to Kinder Scout to protest for the right to roam. Back then access was not a right and they were met at the top of William Clough by gamekeepers for a stand off. In fact some of the protestors were jailed for their protests. However their actions are widely seen to have kick started our current right to roam which was introduced in 2000 with the Countryside Rights of Way Act, allowing us to walk many places we couldn’t previously.

We will be starting at Bowden Bridge near Hayfield and walking up William Clough to photograph some of the waterfalls quickly on the way up. Once up on the edge we will take in the viewpoints along the way including Sandy Heys and Kinder Downfall. We will stay out until sunset and if the conditions are good we will hopefully be in a suitable place for the light. This does mean a walk down in the dark so please do remember your head torch.

Upon booking you will be provided with a questionnaire to fill out which is a requirement of attending. I will also provide a recommended kit list and what to bring.

Throughout the day we will look at techniques such as focusing, using tripods, use of filters vs exposure blending, composition, working with the light and more.

I am more than happy to discuss other more advanced techniques on 1-2-1 basis as well as to the group, depending on what is beneficial.

The day is tailored around you as much as possible and I strive to give each of you on the course for that day the best day possible. At the end of the day, you will have hopefully learnt new techniques and taken away some imagery you will be proud of. I am a friendly and relaxed tutor and I welcome you to keep in touch with me after the course to ask me any questions you may have looked over on the day. I have also created a Facebook client area where you can keep in touch, share your photos and keep in touch with other attendees from the day.

There will be a maximum group size of 4 meaning there will be plenty of 1-2-1 time. I will be on hand throughout the day for any questions and my focus will be on ensuring you have the best day possible.
