Join me on the 12th October for a packed day of photographing the Peak District including a sunrise from the epic and classic Mam Tor.

Mam Tor is one of the most popular spots for photography in the Peak District and it is easy to see why. Stunning, elevated views over both the Edale and Hope Valley while looking along The Great Ridge all the time. It offers easy access and is a spot prone to mist. With some luck we will capture a fantastic sunrise with the valley cloaked with the mist.

Once we have done sunrise we will pop to Castleton for some breakfast and if time allows, look at our images on a laptop to discuss basic processing techniques within Adobe Lightroom.

Then we will head to somewhere like Padley Gorge or Bole Hill depending on the conditions. If there is a high mist/fog, we will head to Bole Hill to hopefully catch the woodland thick with the mist with the rising sun breaking through. If not we will head to Padley Gorge to catch the start of Autumn.

We will meet at 06:30 to do a meet and greet with the other photographer’s and myself before moving on to Mam Tor for sunrise. Sunrise is approx 07:30 so we will have plenty of time to get there. This workshop is ideal if you already are familiar with the basics of photography, particularly settings as we will be photographing the best part of the day first, meaning we won’t have much prior time to build your skills. If you are familiar with your camera, you won’t learn less than a normal workshop it is just laid out different. If you are a beginner you may wish to choose one of my sunset workshops where we build skills as the day progresses.

The day will conclude around 14:30 depending on how we go for time, however please be flexible for it to overrun.

Throughout the day we will look at techniques such as focusing, use of filters vs exposure blending, composition, working with the light and more.

I am more than happy to discuss other more advanced techniques on 1-2-1 basis as well as to the group, depending on what is beneficial.

The day is tailored around you as much as possible and I strive to give each of you on the course for that day the best day possible. At the end of the day, you will have hopefully learnt new techniques and taken away some imagery you will be proud of. I am a friendly and relaxed tutor and I welcome you to keep in touch with me after the course to ask me any questions you may have looked over on the day.

There will be a maximum group size of 4 meaning there will be plenty of 1-2-1 time. I will be on hand throughout the day for any questions and my focus will be on ensuring you have the best day possible.
