Eryri (Snowdonia) Photography Workshop: Exploring the Dramatic Ogwen Valley – 10th May
Join me on May 10th for a captivating photography workshop in one of Eryri’s (Snowdonia’s) most breathtaking locations: the Ogwen Valley. We’ll explore its dramatic landscapes, capture iconic views, and learn how to photograph its diverse features, all within a manageable walking distance.
Why the Ogwen Valley?
The Ogwen Valley is renowned for its rugged beauty, boasting towering peaks, glistening lakes (llyns in Welsh), and cascading waterfalls. Despite its dramatic scenery, the valley offers surprisingly easy access to stunning viewpoints, making it an ideal location for a rewarding photography workshop suitable for all levels.
Highlights of the Day:
- Ogwen Outflow (Long exposures):
- We’ll start by capturing the waterfalls tumbling beneath the A5 and the historic Roman bridge.
- Focus: This relaxed start is a perfect opportunity to learn about long exposures, filters, and camera basics.
- Cwm Idwal (Glacial Bowl):
- Venture into the heart of the Glyderau mountains and explore Cwm Idwal, a magnificent glacial bowl.
- We’ll follow a well-maintained path around Llyn Idwal, capturing stunning views and unique perspectives.
- There is an opitional short ascent to a viewpoint above the Llyn with stunning views back to Pen yr Ole Wen
- Afon Lloer (Sunset Finale):
- For a grand finish, we’ll head to Afon Lloer, a picturesque waterfall cascading against the backdrop of the mighty Tryfan. This dramatic location will likely be our sunset photography spot.
