Description
Anglesey’s Iconic Lighthouses: A Photographic Exploration – 12th September
Join me on a captivating photographic adventure along the rugged and enchanting coastline of Anglesey on September 12th. This workshop is designed to immerse you in the beauty of the island’s maritime heritage as we explore three iconic lighthouses: Penmon Point, Tŵr Mawr at Llanddwyn Island, and South Stack.
Why Anglesey’s Lighthouses?
Anglesey boasts a coastline that is both dramatic and diverse. Its iconic lighthouses stand as sentinels against the elements, offering unique architectural forms set against the raw power of the sea.
- Penmon Point: Nestled on the eastern tip, this elegant lighthouse sits against the backdrop of Puffin Island. We’ll capture the drama of waves crashing against the rocks and also experiment with telephoto compositions.
- Llanddwyn Island (Tŵr Mawr): A place of legends and sweeping views across to Eryri (Snowdonia). The lighthouse stands proudly amidst a stunning coastal landscape of dunes and volcanic rock.
- South Stack: Anglesey’s most westerly point, where dramatic cliffs offer a stark contrast to the gentler east. We’ll photograph the iconic lighthouse from the top of the famous steep steps and also the high clifftops.
Our Photographic Journey
- 12:30: Meet and Greet
- We’ll meet at the Llanfairpwll Park and Ride for a warm welcome before journeying to Penmon Point to begin our exploration.
- Mid-afternoon: Review and Refuel
- We’ll take a break at a local café for lunch. This is a great chance to review our images and enjoy a quick introduction to Lightroom post-processing techniques.
- Afternoon Exploration:
- Our next spot will be South Stack Lighthouse. Here we can experiment with leading lines down the paths and steps to the lighthouse before heading to the upper viewpoint via a short walk to capture rockier and more dramatic landscapes.
- Sunset Finale:
- We’ll head to our final lighthouse location of Tŵr Mawr on Llandwyn Island to capture the magic of the golden hour, experimenting with the dramatic interplay of light and shadow as the sun dips below the horizon.
