Autumn Around Eryri Snowdonia Photography Workshop (November 9th 2024)

Join me on November 9th to explore autumnal landscapes in the fantastic Eryri National Park (formerly Snowdonia). I have a great little route starting at Betws-Y-Coed heading to Llanberis to take in some of the fantastic locations along the way.

We will start off at the fantastic Penmachno Bridge, where a roman style bridge crosses over the river Machno and is just a photographer’s dream. Just down the road is Fairy Glen where providing it’s not too slippy, we can go down and photograph some long exposures passing through this magical place.

After here we will head over to Swallow Falls, a fantastic large waterfall which really comes to life in autumn.

Next we will spend some time near Llanberis and I have a few locations in mind depending on time. There are the fantastic birch trees which line Dinowic Quarry (we may also head into the quarry if there’s time) and are great photographed from afar. There’s another small quarry above Llanberis which has a fantastic monolith of a rock surrounded by trees with views up the Llanberis Pass.

Finally, our sunset spot will be the very easy to reach but super photogenic lone tree on Llyn Padarn.

I have rated this workshop easy/medium. Most locations are within minutes of the car but as we will be around waterfalls you should be sure of your footing as it can often be slippy at this time of the year.

We will meet at 09:00 for a meet and greet with everyone before heading out to our first location. We will break approx. 1pm for lunch at a cafe and if there’s time there will be a quick introduction to post-processing in Lightroom to give you an idea of my workflow. We will be out until sunset around 17:00. If you are travelling via Wrexham, you are more than welcome to travel with me.

Throughout the day we will look at techniques such as focusing, using a tripod, use of filters vs exposure blending, composition, working with the light and more. This is largely photographic walk and as such, we will build techniques throughout the day and the aim is to put what we have learnt into practice for the sunset at the Trinnacle.

I am more than happy to discuss other more advanced techniques on 1-2-1 basis as well as to the group, depending on what is beneficial.

The day is tailored around you as much as possible and I strive to give each of you on the course for that day the best day possible. At the end of the day, you will have hopefully learnt new techniques and taken away some imagery you will be proud of. I am a friendly and relaxed tutor and I welcome you to keep in touch with me after the course to ask me any questions you may have looked over on the day. I have also created a Facebook client area where you can keep in touch, share your photos and keep in touch with other attendees from the day.

There will be a maximum group size of 4 meaning there will be plenty of 1-2-1 time. I will be on hand throughout the day for any questions and my focus will be on ensuring you have the best day possible.

There is a £40 deposit required to secure your place on this workshop with the balance due no later than 6 weeks before the workshop.
