Eryri (Snowdonia) & Anglesey Residential Photography Workshop Tour (3rd To 6th April 2025)

£200.00£895.00

Description

Join me between April 3rd to 6th 2025 for 4 days of photographing the beautiful and majestic Eryri landscapes and coastal locations on Anglesey.

This workshop will take us to fantastic and amazing locations that I am already very familiar with, having spent my whole photographic career visiting the area. I have planned this workshop to include locations that are either easy to reach or moderate but within reach of most people. That’s not to say if we have a willing and capable group, we won’t go even further!

On this workshop, we will explore the rugged and stunning mountain landscapes, dramatic and large waterfalls, lakeside views and coastal locations with a lighthouse.

I have made it so this workshop incorporates a full day on the first day, followed by two further full days and then we will do a sunrise on the last day, check out of our accommodation and carry on until about 1pm which should give everyone a good day for the last day while allowing people to travel home on the Sunday in a timely manner.

While I always stay hypothetical with my itinerary, because I much prefer to work with the flow and aim to get us to the best places at the best times, the following is what we may end up doing. We will roughly do 8 hours on the full days and if we do a sunrise shoot then we will return to the cottage for part of the day to rest before heading out again for sunset. Also I have chosen the weekend after the clocks go forward to provide a slightly more sociable sunrise time.

Day 1: Meet at 13:00 near Llantrwst. We will then head off in my car and spend the day photographing the areas local waterfalls and rivers such as Penmachno Bridge, Fairy Glen, The Tearooms at Llanwrst and waterfalls in the Ogwen Valley. We will break around 16:00 and check in to the cottage before heading back out and staying out until sunset which is around 19:50.

Day 2: Head out for a day of photography on Anglesey. This is a chance to photograph the Three Lighthouses of Penmon Point, South Stack and Llanddwyn Island and we will work to the tide times here. This is going to be a full day of about 8 hours because of the travel between each lighthouse. If there is an opportunity we will also photograph the Menai Bridge in blue hour on our way back.

Day 3: Do sunrise at Capel Curig Pinnacles which offers a fantastic view over Llynnau Mymbyr and into the Snowdon Horseshoe. We will return for breakfast before heading out again in the afternoon where we will photograph around the Ogwen Valley. We will aim to do sunset at Afon Lloer which is a fantastic spot with some small waterfalls with an impressive backdrop of Tryfan.

Day 4: We will start off with sunrise again, thinking about where we have been before and how successful we have been. If we have been successful then we will head somewhere new such as Llynnau Mymbyr which gives us an alternative composition to the previous sunrise shoot. We will head back to the cottage to check out. At this point I will either need to drop my gear off in someone’s car or have everyone take their own car to enable the day to be extended. We will work until about 1pm. We might go over towards Llanberis and shoot the lone tree before heading up to Dinorwic Quarry to shoot the barracks and the stunning view over the Llyn’s.

During downtime or if the weather is particularly bad we can take a chance to do some post-processing of our images and I’ll demonstrate my own workflow where you will hopefully learn some new techniques.

However, I will try to get us out in most weather and choose locations appropriately.

I have booked us a lovely, well-equipped and decorated spacious apartment with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in Llanrwst itself. There is a large living and dining area for us to chill out and a comprehensive kitchen if you wish to cook your own food. A lot of people prefer to cook their own food so we aren’t bound by serving times in cafes and restaurants but as we are in the town centre, should you wish to go out we aren’t far from anywhere as long as you bear in mind the timings. There is also Wi-Fi, a washing machine, and a tumble dryer. Towels and bed linen are provided as is shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. There are 3 double rooms and a twin and will be handed out on a first come first served basis.

Upon booking you will be sent an order confirmation email that includes meeting details, a kit-list, discount codes and a questionnaire for you to fill out. This questionnaire just allows me to get information about you so I can plan the workshop appropriately for the whole group.

I am more than happy to discuss other more advanced techniques on 1-2-1 basis as well as to the group, depending on what is beneficial.

The workshop is tailored around you as much as possible and I strive to give each of you on the course for the workshop the best time possible. At the end of the workshop, you will have hopefully learnt new techniques and taken away some imagery you will be proud of. I will follow up with an email with useful information, recommended apps, locations we have visited and YouTube videos for processing techniques I have created. I am a friendly and relaxed tutor and I welcome you to keep in touch with me after the course to ask me any questions you may have looked over on the workshop. I have also created a Facebook client area where you can keep in touch, share your photos and keep in touch with other attendees from the workshop.

There will be a maximum group size of 4 meaning there will be plenty of 1-2-1 time. I will be on hand throughout the workshop for any questions and my focus will be on ensuring you have the best day possible.

There is a 200 deposit required to secure your place on this workshop with the balance due no later than 8 weeks before the workshop.
